A small Mooney aircraft headed to Troutdale Airport made an emergency landing on the Columbia River Monday afternoon, a spokesperson for the Port of Portland said.

The water landing happened 2 miles east of the airport near Gary Island Park, spokesperson Allison Ferre wrote in an email.

No one was injured. Only the pilot was aboard the plane when it landed, Ferre said.

Portland firefighters are working with the U.S. Coast Guard to remove the plane from the river, she added.
