Officers arrested Jayda Z. Wise of Portland just after 12:40 a.m. Saturday, after finding a man shot and two others also injured in the area, according to the police report.

A 20-year-old woman suspected of robbing three people and shooting one of them in downtown Portland over the weekend is in custody, police reported.

Another person allegedly connected to the armed robbery remains at large, police said.

Officers arrested Jayda Z. Wise of Portland just after 12:40 a.m. Saturday near Southwest 19th Avenue and West Burnside Street, after finding a man shot and two others also injured in the area, according to the police report.

Brandon Kaastad, 28, was shot in the leg, according to court records. Rebecca Murdoch, 35, was hit on the head with a pistol, and Matthew Spaulding, 46, had a scrape on his neck. The three of them flagged down an officer at Southwest 14th Avenue and Taylor Street shortly after the incident, police reported.

The group told police that a man had approached them for a cigarette, then told them to give him their watches and wallets. They refused.

Then a woman came around the corner and started firing a gun. Spaulding and Kaastad handed over their wallets, according to the affidavit.

Murdoch tried to call 911 but the woman knocked the phone out of her hand and hit her on the head with her pistol, Murdoch told law enforcement.

The woman shot at the group again, hitting Kaastad in the leg. She and the man ran away, according to court records.

Kaastad was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Murdoch declined medical transport, according to the police statement.

Wise, also known by the first name Damarion, is the only person who is reported to have been arrested in the case at this time. She faces likely charges of robbery, assault, theft and unlawful use of a weapon, according to court records.
