A man was found dead in North Portland Wednesday morning.

A man is dead after a shooting in North Portland Wednesday morning, police said.

Officers arrived at North Atlantic Avenue and Buffalo Street in the Arbor Lodge neighborhood at about 5:30 a.m. in response to calls about a shooting. They found a man dead, according to the Portland Police Bureau.

The suspect or suspects had fled the scene before the officers arrived, police said. No arrests have been made.

No additional details are available at this time. The victim’s name has not been released.

Streets in the area are closed as the police bureau’s homicide unit works through the initial phase of its investigation.

If ruled a homicide, this would be the 33rd in Portland in 2024. At the end of June last year there had been 43 homicides in the city.
