PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) –  We’re less than a week from the start of July. Today, however, will feel more like May gray.

Some of you are waking up to damp pavement, with more evidence of rain on your windshield. It’s not that it doesn’t rain in June. It does, with 1.63″ being the climatological normal total for June in Portland. But with our forecast high of just 70°, that’s May’s normal daytime high, not June’s.

Dodging the rain should be fairly easy especially if you live south of Salem in the Willamette Valley. The best places to find rain today are at the coast, foothills, and Cascades. Rain totals for Portland today could be as little as a few hundredths of an inch. Near the coast it could be closer to a quarter of an inch.

Either way you slice it we are on our way to a warm-up by Friday, jumping to the lower 70’s by then. So, the next time you see a few raindrops on your windshield just remember it’s June and it won’t last very long.
