Former President Donald Trump claimed in Thursday’s debate that Portland had been “ripped down.”

“What they have done to some people that are so innocent, you ought to be ashamed of yourself,” Trump told President Joe Biden. “What you have done, how you have destroyed the lives of so many people, when they ripped down Portland, when they ripped down many other cities.”

Trump then named Minneapolis as another “ripped down” city, and Portlanders on social media took note.

“Recently discovered Portland was ripped down? This is big news, I should check on my family,” one person on X wrote.

Another user wrote: “They.... they ripped down Portland? HAS ANYONE TOLD PORTLAND??”
