Portland will see a sunny end to the work week with high temps near 80 degrees.

Clear and sunny skies return to Portland on Friday and temperatures will warm nearly 10 degrees from Thursday’s unseasonably cool high of 70.

The National Weather Service says northwest Oregon and southwest Washington will see winds shift northerly Friday. Light offshore flow will help Portland warm to about 80 degrees under sunny skies.

The coast stays cool with temps in the 60s. Portland has a 60-70% chance of temps higher than 80, but only a 15-30% chance of reaching 85 on Friday.

Saturday’s skies will be partly sunny as winds turn more westerly and a weak system approaches the coast. The weather service expects clouds to thicken as the day goes on. The high temp should be about 82 degrees but could end up cooler as cloud cover may help temper afternoon sunshine.

Sunday will be another partly sunny day with some clouds at times. The high temp should reach near 80 degrees.

There’s a slight chance of showers along the northern Cascades and in the Coast Range on Sunday. Some drizzle is also possible along the coast. But the valleys will stay dry.

Extended forecasts are showing a sunny day on Monday to kick off the work week. A building ridge of high pressure should keep skies sunny and dry through about Wednesday. High temps will be in the upper 70s to low 80s.
