Portland’s Waterfront Blues Festival kicked off Saturday, July 1, 2023.

The 2024 Waterfront Blues Festival’s headliner is Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals, but there is plenty on the four festival stages for all music lovers.

The more than 100 acts booked over the four-day festival on downtown Portland’s Tom McCall Waterfront Park the musical landscape, from blues, soul, funk and R&B artists and more.

If you want to catch fireworks, the only night with a fireworks show is July 4, the festival’s opening day.

Harper performs July 5. Bluegrass legends Greensky Bluegrass will also be there, as well as North Mississippi Allstars, Lucinda Williams, Say She She and local favorites, MarchFourth, among many others.

In a special note for the festival’s 37th year, the festival will commemorate the 10th anniversary of the death of two Portland music icons, festival mainstay singer Linda Hornbuckle and gospel pianist Janice Scroggins. The two, who released a CD together in 2009, died within months of each other in 2014.

The festival draws thousands to downtown Portland each summer and is a reminder that “Portland is well, we’re growing through this, and the future is bright,” said Christina Fuller, director of Waterfront Blues Festival.

The festival will include art, food, and a kids’ area. There are new rules about what attendees can bring in so check the Waterfront Blues website before you go.

The Waterfront Blues Festival runs 11 a.m.-10:30 p.m. Wednesday-Sunday, July 4-7. Passes for the full four days of the festival begin at $150, with premium pass options available. Single-day tickets are $50. Kids 12 and under are free.
