The backseat passenger who was shot is suspected of stabbing the driver and other passengers.
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A suspect has been charged after a driver was found dead and three passengers in the vehicle were found injured in a stabbing and shooting incident on Interstate 5 in Washington on Wednesday afternoon.
While the suspect’s identity has not yet been released by police, Washington State Patrol said the original incident stemmed from calls reporting domestic violence and a shooting on I-5 northbound around South 375th Street in Federal Way. The callers also reported seeing a BMW in a ditch and injured people in and around the car.
On arrival, troopers found a man and a woman outside of the car with stab wounds. They then found another man next to the car with several gunshot wounds. The driver was found deceased in the car, with a large stab wound to his neck.
The woman and the two men were taken to the hospital.
Further investigation revealed that the backseat passenger who was shot was also suspected of stabbing the driver and the other passengers.
WSP said the suspect is still in the hospital, but will be booked into the King County Jail on one count of second-degree murder and two counts of first-degree assault.
Officials won’t release the names of those involved until the King County
Prosecutor’s Office files the charges, or until the suspect is booked into jail.
Law enforcement added that this is an active investigation, and detectives are asking anyone with information in this incident to include dashcam video.
