PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A man was killed after another driver going the wrong way on I-84 crashed head-on into his vehicle Saturday morning, officials say.

Just after 1:30 a.m., Portland police officers responded to reports of a two-vehicle crash on I-84 westbound at Northeast 162 Avenue.

On arrival, they found both drivers injured in a head-on crash after one had reportedly been driving the wrong way in the westbound lanes.

The westbound driver was taken to a hospital, but soon died from his injuries.

The wrong-way driver was also taken to the hospital, but the extent of their injuries are unknown at this time, authorities say.

All lanes of westbound I-84 were closed between Northeast 181st Avenue and I-205 for the duration of the investigation.

No further information has been released at this time.
