Officers responded at 1:32 a.m. to reports of a crash involving two cars on westbound I-84 at Northeast 162 Avenue.

PORTLAND, Ore. — One person is dead and another injured after a head-on collision early Saturday morning.

Officers responded at 1:32 a.m. to reports of a crash involving two cars on westbound I-84 at Northeast 162 Avenue, according to the Portland Police Bureau (PPB). When officers arrived, they found both drivers injured. 

The driver of the car going westbound was transported to a hospital with life threatening injuries, and later died. 

The driver of the other car, which was going east in the westbound lanes, was also transported to a hospital with "unknown injuries," PPB said. 

All lanes of the westbound Interstate 84 were closed between Northeast 181st Avenue and Interstate 205 during the investigation.
