Police responded to reports of a person shot at the TriMet MAX platform at North Interstate Avenue and North Prescott Street.

PORTLAND, Ore. — A man was found dead Thursday night on a TriMet MAX platform in North Portland, according to Portland police.

Around 8:30 p.m., Portland police officers responded to the platform at North Interstate Avenue and North Prescott Street for a report of a person shot. After arriving, the police officers found a man, identified as Sean K. Smeeden of Portland, dead.

The Portland Police Bureau (PPB) said Saturday that the medical examiner determined the 39-year-old died of homicide by gunshot wound. Smeeden's family has been notified and is seeking privacy. 

There were no TriMet trains or buses nearby when the shooting happened, PPB added. 

Portland police have not made any arrests, and currently, no suspects have been detained.
