How can a nation have a system of government where a group of six people, who answer to no one, can make it possible for deranged criminals to bring automatic weapons into our schools and gun down our children over and over again? (“Trump-era ban on bump stocks used in Las Vegas mass shooting struck down by Supreme Court,” June 14). How have these six U.S. Supreme Court justices adopted a vision of “rights” so distorted they cannot tell the difference between a 17th century frontiersman out hunting with his musket and a psychopath crashing a rock concert with an automatic, military grade weapon for the purpose of gunning down hundreds of innocent people?

What could be more bonkers than ruling that such a weapon, manufactured only for the purpose of killing as many people as possible, is essentially no different than a flintlock?

From their recent conduct it is clear too many members of the Supreme Court are obsessed over politics, focused on getting their perks and pleased to have a job where they answer to no one. Nice work if you can get it, I guess. But their self-interest, arrogance and failure to embrace even the most fundamental realities is killing people – mostly kids.
