I believe the coming presidential election is not just about either of the two candidates’ day to day capabilities, but whom they will choose to help lead our country, (“A halting Biden tries to confront Trump at debate but sparks Democratic anxiety about his candidacy,” June 27).

Former President Donald Trump’s choices of Steve Bannon, Steve Miller, and others (in and out of prison) are unsafe and unhealthy for our future. They will disrupt our values and network of allies. Only the already rich and powerful will benefit from another Trump presidency, as seen from his previous tenure.

As we have seen over the last four years, the people President Joe Biden has chosen, and will choose, are much more likely to have the good of the country and our democracy at heart. Any concerns about his age are mitigated by his choice of staff and advisors who are capable and more likely to be honest.

Biden may not be exactly who we all want, but, right now, he is exactly who we must have.
