The Oregon football program will host a candlelight vigil to celebrate the life of Khyree Jackson on Wednesday.

Jackson, the former Oregon cornerback and Minnesota Vikings rookie, died early Saturday morning in an auto accident in Maryland. He was killed along with former high school teammates and fellow college football players Anthony Lytton Jr. and Isaiah Hazel.

Tributes from Oregon football community members poured in for Jackson in the days following his death. Jackson was drafted by the Vikings with the No. 108 overall pick in the fourth round of this year’s NFL draft, overcoming a brief hiatus from football between his junior college stops. During that time, Jackson worked at a grocery store while competitive gaming before eventually returning to the field and starring for the Ducks. A strong final season in Eugene led to the realization of his NFL dream.

Wednesday’s candlelight vigil for Jackson will be held at 8 p.m. at Autzen Stadium. The public is invited to attend and will enter through the stadium’s south gate, which opens at 7:30 p.m. Candles will be provided, but personal candles are allowed to be brought in as well.
