Portland will see two more days of highs in the 90s before some cooling arrives on Sunday. Oregonian file photo.

Portland hit 90 degrees Thursday and will likely see the same temps Friday as high pressure continues to dominate the weather patterns.

The National Weather Service says the region will undergo a shift in the weather likely beginning Sunday, but until then, temps will stay on the warm side with a 60-80% probability of Portland reaching the mid 90s on Saturday.

Sunny skies are the constant both Friday and Saturday. Portland’s high will reach about 90 Friday, but warm to around 96 on Saturday. The Hood River area has about a 50% chance of reaching 100 Saturday.

But cooler temps are on the way when clouds begin moving into the metro area Saturday night as an upper level ridge beings shifting into the region.

Portland has a 20% chance of a shower or two early Sunday morning. The best chance of rain will be along the Coast Range and westward toward the beaches.

Portland will see a cloudy Sunday morning, then some clearing by the afternoon. Highs will lower about 10 degrees from Saturday’s high to near 86. Onshore winds may be strong at times.

The system that brought the clouds on Sunday will stick around to start next week. Temperatures are expected to stay in the normal range with Monday’s high only reaching 81 degrees. Temps in the 80s should continue through about Wednesday.
